The focus of this piece was to create a picture using photoshop with 3 to 4 images of your favorite things; focusing on form. I have never used photoshop before, so it was alittle intimidating. However, it was really amazing at all the changes you can make to a picture; I had no idea. In this piece I was experimenting with layers, I learned how to crop images on top of one another, and also change an images color. I feel as though my image, might be alittle to busy, and should have only had a few leaves moving around the picture and toned down the vibrant red (necklace). I do like how the blacks balance eachother, when I was placing the people on the opposite side it felt alot better. The people were the last image I placed in. I am going to try and work on the movement in the piece.

My Artist Statement-
Ever since I was little I have always been influenced by people talking about different ways of observing, and improving visual aspects of our surroundings. My mother is a painter and my father is a landscape designer, our family discussions always revolve around the visual aspects in our lives. In my art I like to try to capture the natural beauty around us. Alot of my insperation comes from walking through trails, gardens, parks and other places outside, and also beautiful old buildings.

I used magazine cuttings in order to create a collage of words and images to portray my identity. It was created in the shape of a card, which on the front side is vague and then opens to the middle, which has many more images relating to my life. I wanted to portray that I am a shy person at first and then opens up eventually, which the card symbolizes. All of the words and pictures were chosen to symbolize different aspects in my life. The outer layers of the card are more obvious aspects in my life, and in the middle are aspects that are layers of my life. The inspiration for this piece came from one of the previous artist shown in class, Kerry James Marshall. His mother had used images from cards to create her own cards which would have different meanings for different events.
